  • Dudley Daydreamer

    Marcus L Cole

eBook (Best Global Publishing, Nov. 2, 2009)
DescriptionDudley Daydreamer is a story about a 10 year old boy named Dudley Heidlemeir who is overwhelmed with daydreaming. He daydreams constantly. Whether he’s sitting at his desk at school, walking to and from school, sitting in his tree house, or even just riding his bicycle, Dudley’s mind just seems to wander feverishly about anything and anyone. Most of the time his adventures center around many of the subjects he studies in school, or even a television program he had previously viewed. Dudley lives in a typical neighborhood surrounded by typical friends. His parents provide him with the typical home with your typical twenty first century two parent household where both parents work the average forty hour work week. In fact Dudley is more of the typical family than your average typical family. The one thing that separates him from the other kids in the neighborhood is his vast imagination. His imaginations can take him to far away places. They can metamorphosis him into any character or being he desires. In his world he is the one and only true being in a world that is of regular occurrences. From Alexander the Great one day, an award winning prize fighter the next, to a fifty ton Tyrannosaurus Rex the next. Dudley can be anything his heart desires. But sometimes he does not have the choice of deciding what his adventure will be. For sometimes his mind chooses those on its own. Dudley’s friends are very few. Like many eccentric young people, Dudley is considered to be a nerd. His friends are nerds. And he is treated as such. His best friend Judy is the daughter of one of his mother’s friends, who set up the arrangement so that Judy would not have to walk to school alone when she started school and the arrangement has stuck ever since.br>Many of the adventures Dudley goes on are taken while asleep. Whether it is at night in the solitude of his own room, or at school asleep while seated at his desk with his eyes wide open. Daydreaming to Dudley is like sports to an athlete. It just comes natural. The many Adventures of Dudley Daydreamer can take you away and experience the joys that Dudley experiences, the eras that he visits, and the excitement he feels can also be felt with you’re the reader in every adventure. About the AuthorMarcus Cole was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. Most of his spare time was taken up by day dreaming and fantasizing about different places and different people. He graduated from Wabash College, which is a small, all male school in a small historical town with a degree in History. He grew up in a small neighborhood called Brightwood, and most all who grew up there knew one another very well. Like everyone’s childhood neighborhood, there always seemed to be people whose personalities would leave long and memorable personas that you never seem to forget, and “Dudley Daydreamer” brings some of those back to life.He has always wanted to write about kids who constantly dreamt like he did. My childhood was very adventurous. He was involved in many sports in which he also excelled to where he received a track and Field scholarship to Wabash College where he went on to earn 7 Varsity letters in not only track, but also Cross-country. One thing about running long distance it always gave himtime to dream while he ran which I did quite often.

DescriptionGalpol Tony and Zac are two farm boys who become members of the elite Galactic Police Force when they are taken as hostages by two vicious robbers. Their rescuer is a district commander for Galpol. He anaesthetises the boys so they will forget who he is, but Tony remembers him. There is one solution for Galpol - the boys must join the force. They find that their main task is to defend Earth against an evil crime gang that wants to raid our planet for Air and Water deposits. Much of their time is spent off planet seeking for the truth behind the criminal gang in some of the most remote parts of the Galaxy. This is gripping space police drama at its best.About the AuthorGeoff was born in Jersey, then under German occupation, during World War II. Soon after the war, his family moved to Brisbane, Australia. He was educated at All Souls’ School, Charters Towers – a rather traditional boarding school after the English style. What knowledge one didn’t learn through the ears was well and truly belted in through the rear end, complete with blood blisters. His first contact with the cane was for not running around a sports oval fast enough. He now prides himself on a complete disinterest on sports and knows nothing about cricket. This led to his creative and artistic sides developing. He had a way with words, and was a skilled debater. After secondary school, he took to teaching, graduated, and then obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Aboriginal Education. For the next thirty years, he lived with remote aborigines in the Great Western Desert, firstly as a primary school teacher, and later as a School Principal and Administrator. During this time, he took up writing, mostly short stories and film scripts. It was a good way to while away lonely hours in the desert evenings. The development of miniature computers took his interest, and He wrote to the Department suggesting they take a serious look at the use of Computers in Education. Because of the proximity of a U.S. Sigint facility at Alice Springs, many of the students, especially the American kids, were interested in computing. At first they used Tandy Level Ones and Apples. While very primitive compared to today’s machines, Many of the I.T. Community cut their teeth on computing under Geoff’s tutelage. They even built a ‘Dream 8080’ and got it working.
  • DO VIKINGS WEAR GLASSES ?

    Jon Laidlaw

eBook (Best Global Publishing, Nov. 2, 2009)
DescriptionDO VIKINGS WEAR GLASSES ? This is a light hearted story that follows the author’s somewhat intricate life. The journey begins with his idyllic childhood. Comfortably nestled in the bosom of a happy family, he is surrounded by normality and the suburban life that most post war families seemed to strive for. The sleepy village of Shepperton was a good place to flourish during the fifties, and these halcyon days were made easier by sharing his adventures with an identical twin brother. All is well until his universe is shattered by the illness of his father. The privation wasn’t total but empty tummies and days without water or electricity were becoming common place. The sudden death of his Mother when he is sixteen forces the issue and he has to leave his sanctuary of childhood and fend for himself. Whilst trying to survive in bed-sit land (albeit in the stockbroker belt of Surrey) the cash strapped contrasts of his late youth spur him on to try as hard as he can to climb from the depths and change his fortune. The story traverses his totally unprepared working life that starts when he leaves school unable to read or write. He perseveres and manages to keep himself employed, fed and clothed, but only just. He survives by living off ‘London Grills’ and baked beans on toast. After his Father’s death he moves on, and somehow manages to find a wife and subsequently provide for her and their two children. The odyssey carries the reader through some bazaar exploits. Some successful, some unsuccessful, as he searches in dogged determination to find his idyll. His maladroit life bumbles from one scenario to another in pursuit of his destiny. He re-invents himself seemingly on a daily basis whilst trying to live the dream before realizing that most of his future is behind him. As he marches on he slowly begins to understand that the love of his family, the fun and the friendships that he has cultivated along the way are all the necessary tools that he needs to reach his Shangri la. Whether you laugh with him, laugh for him or laugh at him you’ll have to admire his tenacious will to succeed in spite of himself. Regardless of how you might feel about this idealistic hero, he represents the majority of us, and the majority are dreamers who have no real idea of what life is really all about. About the AuthorJon Laidlaw is fifty four. Born, raised and educated in the village of Shepperton. The younger of identical twins. He is married to Carolyn and has two children James and Victoria. He now commutes between his homes in Marbella and Hampshire.
  • Yanada

    Geoff O'Callaghan

language (Best Global Publishing, Nov. 3, 2009)
Description Yanada A story in three parts. 1. The Tree 2. The war with Yanada 3. Scion The Tree Daniel Rex Masson (Drex) travels with his parents, Julie and Philip, to survey a remote planet with a view to having it terraformed as a tourist resort. The planet is supposed to be devoid of life, but it has a colony of slime-mold trees that have a strange relationship with a group of boys who shouldn’t exist. They call the tree “Yanada”. The planet had a violent history, and the trees seem to be a genetically altered organism capable of creating and destroying life. When Drex is killed by a tree, the expedition leaves and sterilizes the planet with nuclear radiation. Meanwhile, Drex is taken back in time to learn the origins of Yanada which seems to be an intelligent organism that owns the planet. The War with Yanada Julie and Philip return to Yanada which has been opened as a resort owned by Gannon Corporation. One of the scientists is killed, and Julie, now divorced from Philip, finds herself caring for a strange boy without a past, named Robbie. Julie discovers that Yanada is alive and well in the form of Robbie and Drex who claim the planet as their own. Gannon Corporation begins a war with Yanada and uses a nannite developed by Thylons, a dinosaur race, to destroy Yanada. Drex travels to Thyla and destroys the planet with an anti-matter device. The war is over, but some traces of the nannites survive, along with several vengeful Thylons. Scion Drex, now Lord Masson, is senior peer of the Empire, and the emperor’s leading warrior. Because of his Yanadan super-powers, he is respected, but feared. When the Emperor, Dagon IVth is assassinated, his queen keeps his death secret. She orders Drex to travel to the prison planet to rescue her son, Denny, who was imprisoned on the planet as an infant, in order to prevent court intrigues and further civil wars. Drex discovers that the Thylons under their leader, Bairiki, have already rescued Denny and are holding him on the planet Quaggos. They know he is important, but don’t know who he really is. Denny doesn’t know his real position, either. He escapes the clutches of the Thylons and a pursuit ensues, with Denny as everyone’s target. He discovers that he is the Galactic Emperor when Robots begin to obey him with the words: “At your command, stars move.” Finally, he meets up with a Yanadan warrior boy, Yaltso, who helps him to find Drex. Gannon Corporation unleashes a war against Yanada using the nannites created by the Thylons. Drex discovers a cure for the nannites and finally defeats Gannon. Denny prevents a war between Earth and the Thylons by acknowledging them as overlords and protectors. The Galaxy returns to a state of peace, and Yanada survives as a planet open to all species. . He also wrote “Extinct, but Going Home” for Humpty Doo Productions. Retiring from Government service, he founded “Young Actors World” to teach kids to act for commercials and feature films. He also took up advertising and ran “Top End Fliers” – one of the largest advertising distributors in the Northern Territory.
